Her Story
About Lorii
Lorii Wallace brings more than 20 years of experience to her work in community performing arts. She began her journey studying dance therapy at the University of Toledo before dancing with the Seattle Performing Arts Company and training with the late Geraldine Blunden of the Dayton Contemporary Arts Company, as well as at Toledo Ballet and Hubbard Dance. Influenced by family artists including her mother, a pianist, her father, a jazz guitarist, and an uncle who owned a creative arts center in Toledo, Wallace started playing the viola at age seven and pursued dance. Fifteen years ago she founded a performing arts company, and five years ago she launched a nonprofit to broaden the impact of her work. Through edutainment productions that combine entertainment and education, she addresses community issues including human trafficking, diabetes, and organ donation. Her play Release Me was commissioned and traveled across India. Wallace uses the arts to inspire, motivate, and bring people together while providing opportunities for community artists from varied professional backgrounds.
