Her Interview
Ten minutes with Lorrie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the drive to never stand still and always challenge myself. I was never shy to try new things like moving to a digital marketing agency or manufacturer side. I've been fortunate to have managers and leaders who advocate for me, and I cultivate those relationships because they remain critical in my journey. If you're not curious and don't try to stretch, you'll be left behind, especially with things like AI.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
In digital, you never are standing still in the same place for very long, so always be curious. Don't be afraid to try something new. And if it's uncomfortable, that means you're learning something.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You belong in the room, so never think that you don't. I've been the only woman at many tables and it can be intimidating, but don't let that intimidate you. Don't ever shrink down in those moments, and don't be afraid to contribute because you're at that table for a reason, whether it's your role, expertise, or background knowledge.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
AI is turning all the processes and ways that teams are doing work upside down. From a corporate perspective they want to know how you're using AI, but teams are trying to find their way as it changes every day. There's a sweet spot of how to marry the efficiencies of AI tool sets with the knowledge and understanding of a human that understands the value of the company or product.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The golden rule of treat others the way that you want to be treated is so essential. In a truly global world that digital is, it can be easy to step over people but that has never felt very true to myself. At the end of the day you have to wake up and be comfortable with who you are.
