What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of persistence, purpose, and the people I’ve worked with along the way. Over more than three decades in administrative leadership, I’ve learned that success isn’t just about titles or accomplishments—it’s about showing up with professionalism, a positive attitude, and a willingness to support your team. Building strong relationships, staying organized, and mentoring others have been just as important as technical expertise. Ultimately, a sense of purpose and dedication to helping others thrive has guided my career and shaped the impact I’ve been able to make.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to believe in yourself and never give up. Success is not about climbing a ladder, but about the journey—showing humility, caring for the people you work with, staying persistent through challenges, and allowing purpose to guide your efforts. Challenges and setbacks are inevitable, but confidence, persistence, and a willingness to keep learning will carry you further than talent alone. Staying true to your values, supporting others, and approaching your work with purpose make all the difference in building a meaningful and lasting career.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
To young women entering my industry, I would say: persevere. Don’t confine yourself to a single skill set or a narrow vision of success. Embrace opportunities to learn—take advantage of free courses, broaden your knowledge, and say yes to challenges that push you beyond your comfort zone. True growth rarely happens when we stay comfortable. Seek out mentors, build strong relationships, and don’t be afraid to use your voice—your perspective matters. Lead with confidence, professionalism, humility, and care, and remember that persistence and purpose will carry you through challenges and open doors you may not yet see.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
In my current role is learning the culture, processes, and systems of a new company. Adapting to a different organization requires flexibility and curiosity, but it also provides a chance to bring fresh perspectives, streamline workflows, and grow both personally and professionally. At the same time, managing multiple priorities, collaborating with other Executive Assistants, and mentoring emerging talent remain key areas where I can make a meaningful impact.
At the same time, it has been incredibly rewarding to build a strong professional bond with my VP, creating a relationship where we can communicate openly and freely about anything. This trust not only strengthens collaboration but also allows me to provide better support while continuing to mentor others, manage priorities, and streamline workflows.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life include a sense of adventure and dedication, which I’ve nurtured since I began horseback riding at age eight and competing in rodeos in my native Puerto Rico. I also value traveling and exploring new cultures, which broadens my perspective and understanding. Community involvement is central to who I am, as is mentoring and supporting emerging administrative professionals. Early in my career, I didn’t have the guidance I needed, so I am passionate about helping young professionals grow and succeed, ensuring they have the support to reach their full potential.
