Her Interview

Ten minutes with LouCinda

01What do you attribute your success to?

My servant heart. I love helping and servicing people and it shows in everything I do. I care about people and their well-being. I believe that one act of kindness or helping hand can be the life line that someone needs to go on another day. If I can offer that, then I have done my part.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never be afraid to advocate for what's right. Even if it means you stand alone.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never stop learning. Make yourself marketable to every company by being open to expand beyond your role. Learning to do different roles or work in different departments make you more of an asset and versatile with your experience.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

There are many people in leadership who have forgotten about people. Just because you have a title and may have direct reports is not the true definition of leadership. Leadership is shown by actions. The ability to empower, influence, and impact people to grow and thrive in an environment, that's leadership. There is also a big push for numbers more than the quality of work being done. I've always prided myself when it comes to quality because quality over quantity matters to me. In due time the quantity will increase because of the quality but when you lack quality your quantity will decline.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Faith, integrity, transparency, consistency, among others. I value most the things that money can't buy because money will come and go. I want to know how you treat people when no one is watching or if they can't do anything for you. I have been in rooms with many and I treat and speak to them all the same, with kindness and respect. As I would expect the same in return.
