About Lourdes "Lulu"

Lourdes Lulu Buck, M.A., is a dedicated educational leader, trainer-facilitator, and children’s author with extensive experience in equity, language programming, and community engagement. Currently serving as the District Coordinator of Student Services at St. Vrain Valley Schools, she has a proven track record of designing and implementing programs that support student success, cultural responsiveness, and family engagement across diverse communities. Her professional expertise spans educational leadership, supervision, and administration, enabling her to guide schools and educators in fostering inclusive and high-performing learning environments. In addition to her leadership in education, Lourdes is an accomplished, award-winning author and consultant. She has published several children’s books, including Sue’s Sky, Cielo de Susana, and Magical Golden Whistle, and leverages her literary work to inspire creativity, imagination, and literacy in young readers. She also founded Bucks Books Consulting, where she provides training and professional development on equity, language acquisition, and culturally responsive teaching practices, helping educators enhance their instructional impact and student outcomes. Lourdes is an active advocate for language education and professional collaboration. She has served as Past-President of the Colorado Congress for Foreign Language Teachers and continues to contribute to the National Council for State Supervisors for Foreign Language. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she combines cross-cultural communication skills with strategic leadership to elevate educational programs statewide. Outside of her professional work, Lourdes enjoys fostering creativity and learning in children, advancing educational equity, and supporting families through innovative and inclusive initiatives.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to fostering inclusiveness and prioritizing education, particularly in shaping young minds. Creating equitable learning environments and empowering students has been central to my work and achievements.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the field of education is to remain lifelong learners, stay open-minded, and practice forgiveness, both for themselves and others. Growth comes from curiosity, adaptability, and resilience.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in education today is bridging divisions and fostering unity across differing perspectives. There is immense potential in creating inclusive spaces that value every voice and promote shared understanding.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me are deeply rooted in my roles as an author, Spanish teacher, administrator, and district coordinator. I am committed to equity, cultural responsiveness, and student empowerment, while also valuing creativity, family, and community in my personal life.
