Her Interview
Ten minutes with Lovely
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my personal relationship with God, which has given me the heart, mindset, and passion to serve others through healthcare. During difficult times, I realized that my purpose is not only to teach people about healthy living but also to demonstrate it through my own lifestyle while prioritizing mental health. I also created my YouTube channel, The Art of Learning and Unlearning, to share the lessons I have learned and relearned throughout my life so others can benefit from those experiences.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I have learned that challenges and change are inevitable throughout any career. As long as I do not take those challenges personally and continue adapting and moving forward, I can remain fulfilled in the profession I have chosen. This perspective has been especially valuable as healthcare has evolved significantly following the COVID-19 pandemic.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women to know their purpose and understand who they are as individuals. Prioritize your mental health, your safety, and the things that bring you joy because you are a person before you are a healthcare professional. Taking care of yourself enables you to provide the highest quality care to others, so schedule personal well-being with the same commitment you give to your work.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest challenges facing healthcare today is ongoing staffing shortages. Although the pandemic brought increased awareness and empathy from healthcare leadership, there is still significant work to be done to better support frontline professionals. Healthcare is a rewarding career, but it requires genuine passion, resilience, and continued investment in those who dedicate their lives to caring for others.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My faith in God is the foundation of everything I do. I am committed to making a positive difference in health and wellness by teaching and demonstrating healthy living, including the importance of mental health. I believe in serving others with compassion, leading by example, and fulfilling the purpose God has given me through healthcare and community service.
