Her Story
About Lucia
I have been in the banking industry for over 11 years. I started in credit card customer service in 2015 and quickly moved to a team lead position. From there I went into QA, then handled high-risk complaints in the small business executive office, returned to QA as a team lead managing 20 people, led a training team supporting over 140 employees, and most recently worked in root cost analysis at Wells Fargo identifying systemic issues and improving processes.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Lucia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I believe it's hard work. I am very consistent, and I like to take risks. I like to learn, so I am very curious, naturally, so whenever there are opportunities to perform new tasks or take on additional activities, I always volunteer.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Finish an education, even little by little. Don't wait until it's too late. Many companies offer tuition reimbursement, so pursue education to open doors.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is lacking a degree as companies prefer education over experience, though I have extensive experience in control, risk, and prevention. Opportunities for growth exist if I obtain a degree combining it with experience.
