Her Story
About LuCretia
My career journey has been defined by my willingness to challenge myself and adapt to change. I started in accounting 20 years ago when a manager saw my work ethic as a floating secretary and hired me as his administrative executive assistant. At that law firm, I worked for 15 years and became the only person in the entire company who could walk into any partner's office and sit down to handle their billing. I managed billing for 25 attorneys, each with completely different billing styles, and I created a procedure manual to stay organized and get everything done on time. I was instrumental in upgrading the firm's technology from DOS database to electronic invoicing, and I was the only person who learned the new system, so I had to train everyone from associates to senior partners. When the accounting manager went on vacation for 3 weeks, I was in charge of everything. After being laid off, I went through a career transition during COVID and even sold cars for a year, where I beat some of the legendary salespeople despite being a newcomer. I then moved into solar sales, learning to pitch and convince customers within 3 minutes. I'm also a self-published author who published my first book in 2013, a poetry collection called 'Once Upon a Life in Time, in Spirit, and Flesh,' available on Amazon in print, Kindle, and Audible. I chose self-publishing because I'm a multi-genre author and I wanted creative control over my work. I created my own LLC called Eyes for Literature to help other authors in the future. Throughout every role, I've succeeded because I adapt well to change, I know what it takes to get the job done, and I never give up even when things get challenging.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I'm proud of all my accomplishments because they've all been very challenging, and I succeeded. I'm happy with myself as an individual. The key to my success is that I have a personality where I can adapt to change very well, and people are open to me. I'm very flexible, but I'm also the type of person that knows what it takes to get the job done. I don't have to sit there and come up with elaborate plans, I just want to get the job done. Every job I've had, I wanted more money of course, but I really wanted to challenge myself. A lot of people would have given up and would not have done everything that I have done. I challenge myself with every new role, whether it's learning new technology, selling cars when I knew nothing about them, or convincing solar customers within 3 minutes. I never get comfortable, I keep pushing myself to grow and learn new skills.
