What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my passion for storytelling through design and my ability to simplify complex ideas into engaging, meaningful experiences. I’ve led impactful projects, including developing programs aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and creating training initiatives at Duke University to support social entrepreneurs.
My work is driven by a commitment to using design as a tool to educate, connect, and create positive social impact.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is that challenges can be the fuel for discovering new opportunities. This perspective has helped me approach obstacles with a growth mindset, using them as a chance to innovate, learn, and create meaningful progress rather than seeing them as setbacks.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering this industry to be passionate about what they do and to find a niche that truly aligns with their strengths and interests. When you’re genuinely invested in your work and focused on an area that reflects who you are, it becomes easier to grow, stand out, and build a meaningful career.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
AI is both a challenge and an opportunity in my field, pushing me to refine my skills and niche. While it streamlines tasks and speeds up production, it also raises concerns about quality without expert direction.
As the industry shifts, I see my role becoming more strategic, with a growing focus on specialized work like interpretive environmental design and signage.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are honesty, respect, and maintaining a positive attitude in both my work and personal life. I believe it’s essential to treat people with kindness and stay grounded, rather than getting caught up solely in success or financial gain and losing sight of the human experience.
I also value creativity, connection, and appreciation for the world around us—through art, music, and nature. These are often overlooked, yet they play a vital role in keeping us inspired and balanced.
Above all, I believe in the importance of community. As our lives become more digitally driven, it’s easy to feel disconnected, so I value opportunities to come together, share common experiences, and foster a sense of belonging.
