Her Story

About Lulu

Lulu Siciliano is a Miami Beach-based entrepreneur, permanent makeup artist, educator, and product innovator whose work has helped shape the evolution of the permanent makeup industry. Professionally involved in the field since 2017, she has built a career combining artistry, business strategy, product development, and education. Lulu is the founder and CEO of Miami Kiss Lip Blush and previously co-founded Microbeau International, where she helped develop advanced tools and solutions specifically for permanent makeup artists. Her expertise spans permanent makeup, pigment formulation, cosmetic techniques, product innovation, and entrepreneurship, with particular recognition for her pioneering work in dark lip neutralization. Inspired by the diverse clientele she encountered in Miami, Lulu developed techniques and pigment formulations designed to address the unique needs of clients with melanin-rich lips, contributing to practices that have since influenced artists and brands around the world.

Lulu’s success is rooted in discipline, curiosity, creativity, and what she describes as maintaining a “white belt mentality”—always approaching her craft as a student, regardless of how much she has already accomplished. Growing up in Ukraine, she developed a strong appreciation for the opportunities available to women to pursue ambitious careers and build businesses independently. Throughout her journey, mentorship has also played an important role, particularly her long-term relationship with Australian pigment expert Anna Oko, who helped deepen Lulu’s knowledge of pigment formulation, skin applications, and product development. Lulu encourages other women and professionals to separate their personal worth from the services they provide, seek knowledgeable mentors, understand the products and equipment they use, and build confidence through knowledge and experience rather than social media popularity or outside validation.

Today, Lulu is focused on her next chapter as an entrepreneur, educator, and creator, developing new products, educational programs, and online courses designed around the real-world needs of permanent makeup artists. She remains passionate about art and creativity, interests that began with her love of drawing women’s faces and eventually became the foundation for her career in beauty. Lulu believes that successful professionals should never become complacent and that manufacturers and educators have a responsibility to develop and share their work thoughtfully, responsibly, and with integrity. Through her businesses and educational efforts, she continues to champion innovation, professional education, and artistic excellence while encouraging others to stay curious, practice relentlessly, and build careers grounded in passion, knowledge, and confidence.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lulu

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success largely to discipline, curiosity, and what I call a “white belt mentality.” No matter what I have accomplished, I believe there is always more to learn. I never want to become comfortable because of past success, so I continue to approach my work as a student by researching, experimenting, listening to other artists, and looking for better solutions. My background has also shaped my determination. Growing up in Ukraine, where I felt women had fewer opportunities to pursue their ambitions, gave me an even greater appreciation for the professional freedom and possibilities I found in the United States.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of the most influential mentors in my career has been Anna Oko, an Australian pigment expert whom I initially connected with through Facebook. Over approximately seven years, she became an important source of knowledge and guidance in pigment formulation, skin applications, and product development. While I learned many aspects of entrepreneurship independently, my experience with Anna reinforced my belief in the value of mentorship. I strongly encourage professionals to seek knowledgeable mentors who can help them avoid costly mistakes, gain perspective, and accelerate their development.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage women to separate their personal identity from the services they provide professionally. If a client declines a service, criticizes a result, or chooses another provider, that should not be viewed as a rejection of who you are as a person. I also encourage women to remain students of their craft, seek knowledgeable mentors, understand the products and equipment they use, and never assume that social media popularity automatically equals expertise. True confidence comes from knowledge, experience, and continued learning rather than outside validation.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I see tremendous growth as well as significant challenges within the permanent makeup industry. As the field expands through social media and new products, it can become difficult for both artists and consumers to distinguish genuine expertise from popularity. I believe there is a major opportunity for better education, responsible product development, improved testing, and products created from the perspective of working artists. My focus is on continuing to develop solutions that address real-world challenges rather than simply following industry trends.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are independence, discipline, authenticity, continuous learning, and professional integrity. I believe success should never lead to complacency, and even accomplished professionals should remain willing to learn and grow. I also believe manufacturers have a responsibility to thoroughly understand, develop, and test their products before introducing them to artists and clients. Creating products responsibly and prioritizing quality and integrity over popularity or social media influence are essential to me.
