Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lumina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to pushing through self-learning, trying to go beyond my comfort level, not just restricting myself to what I was told but trying to understand what every team member does. Consistency with what I am expected to do, working through it and making sure the quality of the work is good. Support from colleagues, mentors, and my family who supported me through extended hours.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

For young women, confidence is what you need. As long as you know your domain, as long as you've learned it the right way and are willing to learn going forward to expand your role. You don't need to restrict or limit yourself. In every room, you will find people trying to overpower you with their decisions, but with your real-time experience and how passionate you are about your work, you will always add real value. That's where you start making room for yourself in rooms and start leading them.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge I usually face is with people that are in higher positions having their say when they don't know the base reality, and just because they have positions they try to put up something. People try to overshadow, but confidence and knowing my stuff helps me become a dominant figure in these rooms in decision making. It's all about making sure relationships are not harmed but at the end of the day reality is respected and is considered.
