About Lupe
I am a public health educator and program director with over three decades of experience in health promotion, community health, and higher education, having served as Senior Health Educator and Program Director at UC San Diego from September 2003 to May 2020, where I provided leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of campus-wide programs and policies aimed at reducing alcohol and other drug-related harm among students. Prior to this role, I served as Director of Health Education at UCSD SHWS and HPS for nine years, where I administered health promotion activities in relation to assessed campus needs, system-wide programs, and national trends.
Earlier in my career, I served as Director of Health Promotion at Logan Heights Family Health Center for over six years, where I designed, administered, and supported the development, implementation, and evaluation of individual, family, and community public health measures for a large community-based, nonprofit health center.
I hold a Master of Public Health in Population and Family Health with an emphasis in Adolescent Health and Behaviors from UCLA, and a Teaching Credential in Education from the University of San Diego.
Across my career in public health education and health promotion, my work has been driven by a commitment to improving the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities through education, policy, and program development. Whether I was leading campus-wide health initiatives, administering community health programs, or evaluating health promotion activities, I brought a strategic, collaborative, and evidence-based approach that made a lasting impact on the communities I served. I am proud of the work I have done throughout my career and, while happily retired, remain interested in part-time work in the field.
