She attributes her success to a strong work ethic, dedication, integrity, and a commitment to community and adding value, and she advises building a strong professional network and personal board of directors.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Luz
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a strong work ethic and dedication to contributing the best that I can wherever I am. I've always maintained full-time work and full-time mom duties while earning my degrees, taking the long road with integrity rather than shortcuts. My values align with integrity, community, and adding value, and I'm now learning to take time for myself to find balance in this entrepreneurial phase.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received is to build a strong network and your own personal board of directors. Align yourself with people you admire and trust who can help you navigate your career journey. This network can change and evolve as your skills, experience, and priorities change throughout your life, but having that core support reminds you that you are not alone.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, community, and adding value are most important to me. I believe in recognizing people's hard work, allowing them to show up authentically, and rewarding them fairly. I'm learning to balance this by taking time for myself in this new phase of my career.
