Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lynelle

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being a person of integrity, doing things wholeheartedly with heart and intention, and following my grandmother's lessons from a young age that whatever you do, you do it 100% and give it all you've got. Excellence was expected, and slacking was not good enough. Those lessons have opened doors and built my reputation through follow up, follow through, and being a person of my word.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell them that they have whatever it takes to do whatever it is they want to do. Do the research, make baby steps toward your goal every day, and you will accomplish it. Put it out there in the universe and people will come. Do the work, do your research, and start making the strides. Your journey is your journey alone, don't judge it by someone else's journey or measure yourself against anyone else. One door has to close for another to open, and nothing has to happen for something else to happen.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My compassion, approachability, integrity, and kindness are most important. People come first, family comes first, health comes first. As a leader, take care of yourself and your people. In other countries they value family, health, and time more than we do here, and it's important not to work until you die but to take time to take care of yourself.
