Her Story
About Lynette
Lynette Cameron is the founder and President of Cameron Consulting, LLC, an outsourced new business development firm that helps advertising agencies and service providers across the country win and retain high-value clients. Before entering the marketing world, she spent roughly fifteen years working in government social work, supporting families and children, after earning her Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. That early foundation in human services shaped the relationship-driven approach she would later bring to business development. She went on to hold marketing director roles at major media companies, including Gannett's USA Today Network and Swift Communications, before moving into new business development leadership for national advertising agencies.
In 2017, after years of exceeding sales targets for other organizations, Lynette launched Cameron Consulting to offer a smaller, more personalized alternative rooted in high-quality service and authentic client relationships. Her practice grew quickly, and she has since delivered notable wins across industries ranging from healthcare and senior living to manufacturing and aerospace, including helping a software client secure contracts with major aerospace firms such as Boeing and General Dynamics. She regularly represents her clients at industry conferences like KBIS, SHSMD, and LeadingAge, and combines research, relationship-building, and modern tools such as LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, and HubSpot to connect agencies with the right decision-makers.
Outside of her consulting work, Lynette volunteers as a coordinator bringing support to individuals in inpatient treatment for alcohol, drug, and mental health recovery, and she participates in the SCORE Business Mentoring Program to help guide emerging entrepreneurs. She credits much of her professional success to lessons learned from her parents — her father's tenacity and her mother's compassion — and she remains guided by values of integrity, faith, and service. In recognition of her career achievements, Lynette has been selected to be featured by Influential Women for 2026.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Lynette
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the tenacity my father instilled in me and the compassion my mother modeled throughout my life. I've also relied heavily on transferable skills built across very different roles, a willingness to take risks, and an unwavering focus on customer service and building genuine relationships with the people I work with.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I've received is that skills are transferable. I've learned to trust my own abilities, show up consistently, stay open to feedback, and not be afraid of making mistakes along the way.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women to seek out others who have successfully built their own businesses and to ask them for honest feedback often. I'd also tell them to lean on the skills they already have, look for niche opportunities that others may be overlooking, and consider mentoring programs like SCORE to help guide the way.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I see is the fear that AI will replace human-led new business development. I don't share that concern — while AI can help refine messaging, it can't replace real human connection and touch. The opportunity I see is in applying my proven methodology across diverse industries while keeping my consulting practice flexible and responsive.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Blind faith, doing the next right thing, tenacity, compassion, integrity, honesty, and service to others are the values that guide both my work and my personal life.
