Her Story

About Lynette

Lynette Wolfe has pursued a multifaceted career spanning music and tattoo art. She has been involved in music for about 18 years after moving to Austin, Texas, to advance her tattoo career of 26 years and falling in love with music, learning to play upright bass. She performs 3 to 7 times a month with her band Lynette and Some Hustlers, with whom she has played for about two and a half years, and has released four albums including Radio Remix. Wolfe also serves on city council and manages a VFW hall and bar while participating in the VFW Auxiliary. Her education includes completing high school in California outside Los Angeles and taking about 12 semesters of college classes focused on art and music without earning a degree. Among her accomplishments are playing at the Continental Club in Austin for the Bucco and Birthday Bash around 2016 or 2017, winning the Writing Award for Best Traditional Country Song for Are You Holdin' My Hands?, and being named Female Vocalist of the Year. She is a national award-winning tattoo artist, having received that recognition in 2005 in Orlando, Florida, and she is starting a new radio show on Fender Country 92.1.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lynette

01What do you attribute your success to?

I just don't believe that you should limit yourself, and anything you feel like you can do, just go do it. Even when it's really hard, you know, it'll either get better or worse, but you gotta do it.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just do it. Just go for it. You have to try it out. If you suck, you suck, but if it's making you happy, it doesn't matter if you suck. Being a woman should not hold you back at all. Women are way better at so many things, and they need to just step up and do what they want to do.
