What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my strong educational foundation and my passion for the construction industry. After completing a business management course in Ottawa, I secured my first internship in construction—and that experience sparked my love for the industry and the hands-on nature of project work. Today, I work as an Assistant Project Manager, supporting interior fit-outs and commercial construction projects. My role emphasizes scheduling, organization, and effective coordination with subcontractors and stakeholders to ensure each phase runs smoothly. Currently, I’m committed to a two-year multifamily project with over 250 units, and I’m thrilled to contribute to something of this scale. I approach every project with a hands-on, team-oriented mindset, believing that open communication and collaboration are key to overcoming challenges, minimizing delays, and maintaining productivity throughout the construction process.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the construction industry is to be tenacious. Don’t let obstacles, opinions, or stereotypes discourage you from pursuing your goals. Confidence and persistence will carry you far—believe in your abilities, stand firm in your decisions, and never be afraid to speak up or take initiative. Every challenge is an opportunity to prove your capability and strengthen your presence in the field.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I faced early in my career was staying motivated during a three-month job search. It was a difficult period, but it ultimately taught me resilience and strengthened my tenacity. I learned the importance of perseverance and maintaining a positive mindset, even when progress felt slow. That experience helped me appreciate that every setback can be an opportunity for growth—and it continues to shape how I approach challenges in my field today.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family, balance, and well-being are the values I hold most important in both my work and personal life. I believe that maintaining strong connections with loved ones and making time for the things that bring joy—like going to the beach and staying active—are essential to a fulfilling life. These moments of balance recharge me and help me bring my best self to every project and collaboration.
