Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I think I'm really good at seeing the potential in others and helping them move forward, whether that's going back to school and getting a degree, or earning a relevant certification, or having more confidence in their interview abilities so they can land a new role. I'm very good at believing in people and coaching them through the hiring process. I love to help people move their career forward in a positive and transformative way!

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Going all the way back to my very first job, the best advice I received is to always try to have at least one or two strong mentors in your career that can be there to support you, give you advice, and just help you along in your career journey, especially in today's marketplace. It's very challenging, especially to pivot from one industry to another but it certainly can be done! I think having strong mentors is really important, and I think people should consider having more than one mentor in their careers as each one offers their own unique perspective. Mentors challenge you to be the very best version of yourself.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I think you always have to be growing professionally, because every industry is changing very fast right now partially due to AI. With respect to our careers, we have to be the captain of our own ship and constantly be growing professionally through our education, relevant certifications, online webinars, conferences that we attend, and always building our internal and external professional network. We always need to be moving forward in a postive way and not stagnant. My favorite quote is "it is better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one, than to have one and not be prepared!"

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think for us, the biggest challenge is being able to help more veterans and spouses in our Warriors to Work program. Our team of career coaches across the country is relatively small and we have hundreds of new veterans that are coming into our pipeline each week that are either getting out of the military or have been out of the military for awhile and are unemployed or underemployed. Having said that, our biggest challenge is being able to serve more individuals.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Having high integrity is the core of who I am as a person. I also value altruism with a focus on helping others and "paying it forward" with compassion. In addition, I value growth, always seeking personal development and learning. I am also an extremely responsible individual so responsibility is a core value of mine. Lastly, I truly value relationship building and having strong and respectful professional and personal relationships.
