Her Story

About Lynn

Lynn McCormack serves as Director of Development at Saddle River Day School in Saddle River, New Jersey. She brings 17 years of experience in the field of independent school education and fundraising, including 10 years in her current role. McCormack majored in business and marketing and began her career on the agency side, working with clients such as American Express, AT&T, and Philip Morris in direct marketing. After time raising her children, she transitioned to nonprofit fundraising in Patterson, New Jersey, before joining the school, where her background proved valuable in database work, marketing, and eventually major gifts. She attributes her success to personal pride in performance, intuition, and analytical skills. McCormack has led strategic planning and communication efforts that contributed to doubling enrollment from under 300 to over 600 students and completing a $20 million capital campaign for a new building. Her presentations on enrollment strategies and the four P's of philanthropy have been shared at independent school conferences and a national philanthropy conference, with subsequent publication through the National Association of Independent Schools. She values honesty, respect, integrity, and kindness, and advises young women entering the field to try new things, build strong partnerships with school leadership, and understand their audience.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lynn

01What do you attribute your success to?

I take a lot of personal pride in my performance. I've always been that way, maybe it's the middle child syndrome. I think I'm highly intuitive, and I think I'm also analytical, and I think those two traits go a long way.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be afraid to try new things. You need to have a very good partnership with your head of school. Understanding people is very important. Knowing your audience as well.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty. Respect. Integrity, kindness.
