Lynn Toomey
Lynn Toomey is a visionary entrepreneur, financial educator, and advocate transforming how women prepare for, transition into, and thrive in retirement. With about 12 years in the retirement planning field and more than 35 years of experience launching and scaling high-tech and financial services companies, Lynn brings deep strategic, marketing, and fintech expertise to retirement readiness. She is the founder of Her Retirement, an AI-powered and human-guided financial literacy and retirement wellness platform designed specifically for women, and Retirement Solved, a comprehensive retirement readiness solution for individuals and organizations. Through these platforms and her work with the More For Her Collective membership program, Lynn provides women with the education, tools, and expert guidance they need to “know more, have more, and live more,” both financially and non-financially.
Lynn’s mission stems from her own journey as a GenX woman navigating the complexities of retirement planning. She created Her Retirement to address the unique financial and life challenges women face, combining proprietary technology, RetireMentors, and a supportive community. She is also the author of her self-published book, Inheritance, with “HER” highlighted, which guides women through inheriting wealth mentally, financially, physically, and legally. Lynn’s daily work includes building and shaping the AI-powered platform, developing the More For Her Collective membership program, creating free educational content, producing social media content, including TikTok videos reaching over 165,000 followers, reaching out to experts for referrals, developing tools and resources, serving as a spokesperson, and running the company. Her work is driven by her belief that retirement planning is about more than money; it’s about life, purpose, and peace of mind.
Before focusing on retirement, Lynn built her career in marketing and technology, including startup company marketing, and later transitioned to financial services. She holds a Master’s degree in Marketing and Communications and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with extensive professional training in Social Security and financial topics. Beyond her professional work, she serves on the Board of Directors for Fairbanks Family in America, supporting the oldest wooden house in North America in Dedham, Massachusetts, built by her ancestors in 1637. Lynn’s most notable professional achievement is creating the Her Retirement platform and brand, with a focus on meaningful impact for women’s financial wellness and life readiness.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the lessons and support I received from my mother, who taught me that “a man is not a plan” and instilled the importance of education, a strong career, and financial independence. Consistency, discipline, and believing in myself have guided me through life’s challenges, including divorce, breast cancer, caregiving for my mom during her illness, and career interruptions. These experiences reinforced resilience and the need to take ownership of my financial and personal future, and they continue to inspire me to help other women gain the tools, knowledge, and confidence to do the same.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never stop learning and to be willing to take risks. That guidance gave me the confidence to leave corporate America and pursue entrepreneurship, a leap I was able to make with the support and encouragement of mentors who helped me navigate the challenges and embrace the opportunities of building my own path.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to follow your curiosity and be guided by the impact you want to have. I entered financial services after a divorce and meeting a financial advisor, and my focus on women’s retirement grew from both personal experiences and seeing the challenges women face. Early on, I taught an online class to about 60 women and realized how much they needed this information, which inspired me to continue and eventually build Her Retirement, a platform dedicated to helping women prepare for and thrive in retirement.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Opportunity: One of the biggest opportunities in my field right now is the unprecedented wealth transfer, estimated at $30 trillion, over the coming years. With women inheriting a significant portion of this wealth, largely due to longevity, there’s a real chance to empower them to make informed financial decisions and create lasting impact.
Challenge: At the same time, many women may not know how to navigate inherited wealth effectively. This is compounded by factors such as caregiving responsibilities, the gender pay gap, widowhood, and gray divorce. These challenges highlight the critical need for education, guidance, and tailored support to help women not only preserve their wealth but use it strategically to achieve financial security and independence.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are being responsible, reliable, and trustworthy, while also making space to have fun along the way. I strive to be a giver, practice gratitude daily, and surround myself with mentors who inspire me, including my mom and my partner, Brian Saranovic, whose support and guidance continue to shape both my personal and professional journey.
