What do you attribute your success to?
I think I was open to different experiences, but then also, I figured out how to highlight my skills, my skill set, in a way that would be attributable to corporate America. I don't think that everyone coming from higher education understands how to do that. Being open to new opportunities and learning how to translate my academic and athletic background into skills that corporate America values has been key to my success in making this major career transition.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to stay humble and always remain willing to learn. I believe success comes from maintaining a growth mindset, being open to new perspectives, and continuously seeking opportunities to improve both personally and professionally. Staying grounded, valuing feedback, and embracing lifelong learning have been key principles that guide my career and leadership approach.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to never put limits on what you can achieve and to always recognize that you deserve a seat at the table. Confidence, persistence, and knowing your value are essential to navigating complex environments, influencing decisions, and making a meaningful impact.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is navigating bureaucracy, as complex processes and organizational structures can slow progress. Another key challenge and opportunity is coordinating the many stakeholders we work with, ensuring everyone is aligned and moving in the same direction. Success in this environment requires strong influence, clear communication, and the ability to bring diverse teams together to achieve shared commitments.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my professional and personal life are integrity, authenticity, humility, and hard work. I strive to lead and make decisions with honesty and strong ethical standards, while remaining true to who I am. I believe in putting in consistent effort, staying grounded, and treating others with respect as I work toward achieving meaningful goals.
