About Machaela
I work as a DSP at AID Indiana, where I assist special needs and mentally disabled adults with daily living. I handle med passes, cook meals, lead music and dance activities, and provide companionship. My background includes prior work as a driver for GM Trucks, but caregiving is my true passion due to family health challenges with my mom, great-grandma, and grandmother. I'm currently studying for my CNA at Anthos Career Center while raising two children.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I genuinely love to do it, and I don't let it break me down or take over my emotions. At the end of the day, every single time I go into work, my clients are at joy when I walk in the door and don't like it when I leave, but are excited for me to come back.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I always believed in the fact that everything happens for a reason, and I'm placed in this field and position for a reason, regardless of the hard days. Things will be better, and things will be okay.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
It's very hard, but if you have the heart and passion for it, it comes like a second hand.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The guidance and management of the companies I work for. A lot of these companies just hire people to have staff instead of ensuring dedication to clients' best interests. It's a serious field dealing with people's loved ones.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I have a genuine heart with everything I do, whether it's my personal life or my career.
