Her Story

About Macie

Macie Roberto brings together a distinguished and diverse professional background spanning global supply chain and procurement, leadership development, organizational transformation, workforce strategy, and interior design. After graduating magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a degree focused on Latin American and Iberian Studies and World Politics, including study abroad experiences in Madrid, Spain, and Costa Rica, she began her career managing international imports and exports for Mars in Puerto Rico. She later developed and managed supply chains for commodities such as cocoa beans sourced directly from origin countries in Latin America, West Africa, and Indonesia, gaining extensive experience in international logistics, supplier development, strategic sourcing, and global procurement.

Roberto subsequently expanded her expertise into leadership development, organizational capability, and enterprise transformation, holding significant roles with organizations including Mars, Starbucks, Providence Health & Services, and Microsoft. At Microsoft, she led global strategies focused on leadership and manager capability development, while her work at Providence included designing enterprise learning and workforce development strategies for a large, geographically dispersed workforce. Approximately three years ago, she transitioned to focus full time on her interior design business, Macie Jayne Interiors, LLC, based in Bothell, Washington. Through her firm, she brings together her expertise in business strategy, supplier management, design, and client experience to create thoughtfully designed residential and workplace environments.

Throughout her career, Roberto has been guided by a passion for architecting both systems and the experiences surrounding them to drive meaningful and transformational change. Her work reflects a distinctive ability to connect strategy, people, operations, environments, and organizational culture to create lasting impact. She is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers and the Institute for Supply Management, speaks English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and has developed caregiver training curricula while supporting Parkinson’s-related nonprofit organizations. Her multifaceted career reflects a commitment to designing better systems, workplaces, and experiences that enable individuals and organizations to thrive.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Macie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the diverse experiences I have gained throughout my career, spanning supply chain, leadership development, and interior design. Each field has strengthened my ability to understand systems, people, and processes from different perspectives. I am especially passionate about creating meaningful system and experience architectures, and I believe my success comes from continuously learning, embracing new challenges, and applying a multidisciplinary perspective to develop thoughtful, effective solutions.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is not to limit myself to just one thing. I have learned that it is possible to pursue multiple interests, develop diverse skills, and explore different opportunities throughout my career. Embracing my versatility has allowed me to grow professionally, remain open to new possibilities, and bring a broader perspective to everything I do.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in my field right now is the ability to bring together diverse experiences, professional connections, and personal passions to create meaningful impact. I believe continued collaboration through professional organizations, as well as supporting nonprofits focused on Parkinson’s disease and other important causes, provides valuable opportunities to contribute beyond my immediate professional responsibilities. Balancing these commitments with personal interests, including ballroom dancing and being a baseball mom, has also reinforced the importance of adaptability, community, and maintaining a well-rounded perspective.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are continuous growth, creativity, authenticity, and meaningful transformation. My education at Vanderbilt and professional experience at Mars have shaped my commitment to learning, adaptability, and bringing diverse perspectives to everything I do. As I continue to focus on interior design and write a book about transformation, I value the opportunity to help people and spaces evolve in thoughtful and meaningful ways. I believe in staying curious, embracing change, and using my experiences to inspire positive transformation in both my professional work and personal life.
