About Madalena
Madalena Boccio serves as a Manager at Deloitte, where she specializes in financial consulting. With nearly a decade of experience, including six years in consulting, she leads approximately eight projects at a time, acts as the primary client contact for each project team, and oversees business development proposal efforts. Boccio's career path began with early exposure to finance through her mother, who spent 40 years in the industry before retiring. She earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Loyola and worked at Morgan Stanley for a couple of years before pursuing a master's degree in behavioral finance at Queen Mary University of London. This education broadened her perspective into economics and econometrics, leading her into consulting. She maintains certifications in ISO 55000 Asset Management, the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), and Project Management Professional (PMP) through Deloitte. Boccio attributes her success to her mother's influence in teaching her finance from a young age and considers her promotion to manager a notable professional achievement, as it allowed her to take on greater leadership responsibilities.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Madalena
01What do you attribute your success to?
My mom teaching me finance from a young age. She's been in the industry for 40 years, had a great career, just retired last year. She's a really strong, influential woman as well.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't be the talker, be the listener. Just listen, understand the needs of your clients, the needs of your workers, and really try and see in between the lines, and then offer solutions, but just listen first. Also, working with good people and building genuine connections rather than networking just to get something out of someone.
