Her Story
About Madeline
With almost 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry, I currently serve as an Account Executive in home health, a position I've held for about 2 years. My work is very rewarding and focuses primarily on hospitals, where I collaborate with case managers, nurses, and attendants to coordinate care for patients being discharged. I also work extensively in rehab and healthcare centers, partnering with social workers, medical directors, and nursing staff. My daily responsibilities include visiting hospitals, rehab centers, primary care doctors, and wound care facilities to ensure patients receive proper post-care after discharge. Throughout my career, my most notable achievement has been becoming a district manager. I earned my bachelor's degree in science with a major in biology and a specialty in marketing from Inter-American University of Puerto Rico, and I also hold a certification in neuroscience. I am a member of the Association for Pharmaceutical Reps and currently serve as the leader of the youth group at my church. Looking ahead, I am working to open my own clinic for neuroscience that will function as a coaching wellness center.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One of the best pieces of career advice I’ve ever received was: never limit yourself to one version of success. Stay adaptable, keep learning, and let your work ethic and relationships speak for you. Being bilingual and building genuine trust with people has opened doors for me in both healthcare and pharmaceutical sales, and it taught me that consistency, resilience, and confidence can take you further than perfection ever will.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Never underestimate the value of your voice, your work ethic, or your ability to adapt. This industry can be competitive and fast-paced, but consistency, professionalism, and genuine relationships will always set you apart. Be confident walking into every room, continue learning, and never be afraid to ask questions or take on new challenges. As women, especially bilingual women, we bring a unique ability to connect with people from different backgrounds and make a real impact in healthcare and business. Stay resilient, stay authentic, and remember that success is built one relationship and one opportunity at a time.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in healthcare and pharmaceutical sales today is navigating an industry that is constantly evolving from insurance limitations and healthcare regulations to the growing demand for personalized patient care. Building trust with providers while ensuring patients receive timely access to quality care requires persistence, adaptability, and strong relationship management skills.
At the same time, there is a tremendous opportunity to make a meaningful impact through patient education, innovative therapies, and coordinated care solutions. As a bilingual professional, I also see the importance of bridging communication gaps within diverse communities and helping patients feel understood and supported throughout their healthcare journey.
Another major opportunity is the increasing role of women in leadership and healthcare innovation. More women are stepping into influential positions, driving change, improving patient outcomes, and inspiring future generations to pursue careers where they can lead with both compassion and confidence.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, empathy, resilience, and continuous growth are the values that guide both my personal and professional life. I believe in building genuine relationships, leading with compassion, and always striving to make a positive impact on the people around me. As a bilingual professional in healthcare and pharmaceutical sales, I value communication, trust, and the ability to connect with diverse communities. I am passionate about empowering others especially women to pursue their goals with confidence, perseverance, and purpose while maintaining balance, authenticity, and professionalism in every aspect of life.
