What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to having a strong sense of self-belief, determination, and a willingness to take calculated risks. Growing up in Ohio, I always knew I was meant for opportunities beyond my hometown and was drawn to building a life in a warmer, urban environment that offered greater professional and personal growth. Confident in my ability to adapt and learn, I trusted that I would find my path and figure out how to get there along the way. This mindset—grounded in resilience, ambition, and forward momentum—continues to guide my approach to both my career and the relationships I build.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One of the best pieces of career advice I’ve ever received is that every experience shapes a unique skill set that no one else will have. I’ve learned that each role, challenge, and opportunity provides lessons and tools I can carry forward. By taking bits and pieces from every job and learning from every experience, I’ve been able to craft a career path that aligns with my strengths and passions, ultimately finding opportunities that bring together all the skills I’ve cultivated along the way.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
If I could give advice to young women entering the construction industry—a male-dominated field—it would be this: looks may open a door, but it’s your mind and expertise that will keep you in the room. Learn relentlessly, develop your skills, and become a force to be reckoned with—when you know your stuff, people won’t question why you’re there. Own your knowledge, trust your instincts, and never underestimate the power of a smile and a strong handshake. While construction may be male-dominated, business development and sales are areas where women naturally excel—use those skills to your advantage!
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I see in construction right now is that the industry is flourishing and there is a tremendous amount of work available. While that’s exciting, it also means being selective about which opportunities to pursue and which markets to focus on. It takes careful strategy and discernment to align the work we take on with long-term goals, ensuring that each project leverages our strengths and creates meaningful impact.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me, both personally and professionally, are balance, transparency, and continuous learning. I strive to maintain a healthy balance between work and life, approach every interaction with honesty and openness, and embrace opportunities to learn and grow from every experience. These principles guide how I work, how I lead, and how I build relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners.
