About Madhavi
Madhavi Kapa, MBA, is a healthcare innovation executive and technology professional with more than 25 years of experience spanning healthcare technology, medical imaging, product management, clinical strategy, and global portfolio leadership. She currently serves as Vice President of Upstream Marketing & Partner Development at Canon Healthcare USA, Inc., where she leads multidisciplinary efforts across upstream marketing, product and clinical strategy, and strategic partner development. Her career has progressed from software engineering and technical leadership into increasingly broad global product, portfolio, commercialization, and executive leadership roles.
Kapa's educational background combines technology and business, including an M.S. in Computer Science from Cleveland State University and an Executive MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology, following a bachelor's degree in Electronics, Controls and Communication. Throughout her career, she has worked across medical imaging, radiation oncology, software, digital health, and healthcare innovation. Her experience includes global product strategy, roadmap development, commercialization, strategic partnerships, clinical workflow, user experience, software development, and cross-functional team leadership. She has also earned Six Sigma Green Belt certification and completed Harvard Medical School's "AI in Healthcare: From Strategies to Implementation" program.
Kapa is particularly focused on the intersection of advanced technology and meaningful clinical impact. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being committed and remaining open to learning and growth. My career has evolved across several dimensions of healthcare technology, and each transition has required me to learn something new and adapt to unfamiliar situations.
I have been willing to step outside of my comfort zone and take on new responsibilities, including broader leadership and global roles. That openness to learning and willingness to evolve has been one of the main reasons for my professional growth.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to be willing to raise my hand for opportunities that challenge me. Some of the most meaningful growth in my career has come from taking on responsibilities that pushed me beyond what I already knew.
I also believe strongly in seeking mentors and sponsors who will challenge me, provide guidance, and advocate for me. Building meaningful professional relationships is extremely important because strong networks can provide both perspective and opportunities for continued growth.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
There are many different ways to enter healthcare. My own path began through technology, but there are many other opportunities, including nursing, medicine, research, and other areas of healthcare. I would encourage women who are interested in the industry to explore the different paths available to them rather than assuming there is only one way to build a career in healthcare.
Most importantly, I would encourage the next generation to find their passion and invest in themselves. Being willing to learn, develop new skills, seek opportunities, and remain open to different career paths can create opportunities for long-term growth.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I am excited about the continued evolution of artificial intelligence, advanced imaging, healthcare data, and connected clinical workflows. AI has enormous potential to support clinicians, improve how healthcare is delivered, and help address some of the pressures facing healthcare professionals.
At the same time, one of the major challenges is ensuring that AI fits effectively into existing clinical workflows. The next phase of AI in healthcare will not be simply about developing innovative technologies; it will be about integrating those technologies thoughtfully into clinical environments so that they can be adopted effectively and create meaningful impact.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me are integrity and curiosity. Curiosity enables us to understand different aspects of a situation and the broader context surrounding it. I believe that being genuinely curious helps people continue learning and can contribute significantly to professional growth and success.
Integrity is one of my highest values because I believe it is fundamental to leadership. Without integrity, it is difficult to build trust, lead people effectively, or create strong and lasting professional relationships. I strive to bring both integrity and curiosity into my work and personal life.
