About Madison

Madison Brown is a construction management professional serving as Trade Relations Manager for the Dallas Division of Smith Douglas Homes. In this role, she collaborates with trade partners, vendors, and internal teams to cultivate strong relationships, streamline operations, and support the successful delivery of high quality residential communities. Since joining Smith Douglas Homes, Madison has demonstrated a strong commitment to operational excellence and partnership development, building on her previous experience as Project Office Manager for the Dallas Division.

Madison's passion for the construction industry began in high school as a STEM student, where she developed a strong interest in engineering and the built environment. She initially studied Civil Engineering at Louisiana State University before transitioning to Construction Management at Collin College, a path that aligned more closely with her career aspirations. While attending school, she worked as a server, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to balancing academic and professional responsibilities. She launched her career in construction as a Scheduling Coordinator with Love That Door, coordinating window and door installations, before joining Impression Homes, where she served as a Warranty Manager for nearly two years. These experiences provided her with a comprehensive understanding of residential construction operations, customer service, project coordination, and trade partner management.

She is committed to expanding her knowledge, refining her leadership skills, and building collaborative relationships that contribute to organizational success. Her Interview

Ten minutes with Madison

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to perseverance and an unwavering commitment to my long-term goals. While it can be tempting to compare my journey to those of my peers, I remain focused on the path I've chosen and trust the process of building a meaningful career. My determination to keep moving forward, embrace challenges, and stay committed to continuous growth has been the driving force behind my personal and professional success.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. Growth does not happen within familiarity; it comes from stepping into situations that challenge you, stretch your abilities, and push you beyond what feels easy or routine. Embracing discomfort has helped me develop resilience, expand my skill set, and continuously evolve both personally and professionally.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the homebuilding and construction industry right now is the slowdown in the market, which requires teams to stay agile, efficient, and adaptable in response to shifting demand. In addition, working within a startup division comes with its own set of ebbs and flows, including evolving processes and the need to build strong foundational systems. At the same time, these conditions present a meaningful opportunity to be part of an early-stage team, helping to establish best practices, shape the culture, and lay the groundwork for long-term success and growth.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in my work and personal life are surrounding myself with supportive and positive people, both personally and professionally, who contribute to a healthy and motivating environment. I also place a strong emphasis on kindness, treating others with empathy and respect, and recognizing that everyone is facing their own challenges. These values guide how I interact with others and help me maintain balance, integrity, and perspective in both my career and everyday life.
