Her Story
About Magda
Magda DeLara is an author, learning designer, and founder of TalentsGarden™, an educational initiative focused on helping parents and educators better understand and support children’s development. With more than 30 years of experience in music education and teaching, she has built her work around the belief that every child has unique potential that can be nurtured through intentional learning experiences. Her current work explores the relationship between nature and nurture, using the metaphor of a garden to make human development more visible, practical, and actionable.
Before focusing on learning design and early childhood development, Magda established a distinguished career in music education. She earned a Master of Arts in Piano Performance, Pedagogical Studies, and Art School Management from the Academy of Music in Łódź, Poland. She later taught piano and music appreciation to children and young adults in Poland, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and the United States, including work as a piano tutor and collaborative pianist. She also led a piano department, served as Deputy Head of a music school, developed curricula, coached teachers, directed a children’s choir, and organized performances and national-level events. Her experience includes Suzuki piano training and a strong focus on personalized, performance-based learning.
Today, Magda’s work centers on early childhood development, learning design, parent education, and educational content. She is the creator of GrowthMap™, a framework designed to make children’s development more visible and actionable, and is writing Children Are Like Gardens, which presents a garden-based perspective on human growth. Through TalentsGarden™, she develops learning experiences, resources, workshops, and tools for families and educators, with a particular interest in how early experiences, music, attention, curiosity, and meaningful interaction shape children’s development. She also offers public speaking, training, and educational consulting, seeking collaborations with mission-driven organizations committed to human growth and development.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Magda
01What do you attribute your success to?
My passion for music and education, determination to develop programs despite obstacles like surgery and moves, and belief in every child's potential.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My piano teacher in Poland never believed in me or put me forward for competitions, which taught me the importance of believing in students and coaching them properly. This mistake made me a better teacher who always supports her students.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Help them feel their own value by finding what is already working in their work and simplifying tasks so they experience success right away.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is turning my passion and creativity into income without a team or structure, struggling with money and needing digital products to create a heritage beyond in-person classes.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, honesty, transparency, and trustworthiness. I am always honest with myself and others, avoid manipulation, and focus on what is already growing rather than missing points.
