Maggy Wooden, MBA, is a seasoned technology professional, consultant, and educator with more than 35 years of experience in the technology industry. Her career began in the 1980s when, despite graduating with a degree in economics, she was hired by IBM as a systems engineer. That opportunity launched a distinguished career spanning decades of technological innovation, business transformation, and professional leadership. Throughout her journey, Maggy has consistently embraced emerging technologies, helping organizations and individuals navigate change while building expertise across multiple areas of the technology sector.
Today, Maggy focuses on artificial intelligence education, consulting, and workforce training, leveraging her extensive industry experience to help businesses and professionals understand and adopt AI technologies. Through her consultancy and training initiatives, she empowers individuals to develop practical skills, adapt to evolving digital environments, and confidently utilize technology to achieve personal and organizational goals. Her approach combines technical expertise with a passion for education, making complex concepts accessible and actionable for diverse audiences.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to having a forward-looking mindset, resilience, and a willingness to take action. These qualities were instilled in me by my parents and have guided me throughout my career. Whenever I encounter something I do not know, I commit myself to learning it, applying that knowledge, and striving to do my best. Equally important, I believe in paying it forward by helping others learn and grow through the experiences and lessons I have gained over the years.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to understand my strengths, be confident in my abilities, and never allow others to define who I am. I believe it is important to establish your own identity, trust your capabilities, and remain confident in the value you bring to your profession. Self-awareness and confidence create a strong foundation for long-term success.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women entering technology to embrace continuous learning and actively seek opportunities to grow their skills. As you advance in your career, make it a priority to help others learn and succeed as well. Building knowledge, sharing expertise, and supporting the next generation of professionals strengthens both individuals and the industry as a whole. Never underestimate the value of mentorship, collaboration, and paying forward the opportunities you have received.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges facing the technology industry today is the underrepresentation of women in STEM and technology careers. Despite significant advancements in the field, technology remains largely male-dominated, creating barriers to broader participation and diversity. Increasing awareness, mentorship, education, and opportunities for women in technology represents one of the most important opportunities for the industry's future growth and innovation.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I believe success begins with understanding what is required to achieve a goal and maintaining a strong work ethic. Hard work, accountability, and realistic expectations are essential in both professional and personal settings. I strive to set clear expectations for myself and communicate effectively with employers, colleagues, and team members. Consistency, responsibility, and dedication are values that guide my decisions and help me build productive and meaningful relationships.
