About Maisie
Maisie Meehan serves as an executive search professional at Principle Search, where she focuses predominantly on the North American natural gas space while her firm covers all commodities globally. She entered the broader energy sector after an internship with BHP during college and subsequent consulting work, which led her to executive recruiting about a year and a half ago following four years total in the energy space. A graduate of Elon with a Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology, Maisie began her role as a team assistant before being promoted to the research and recruiting side, where she has completed four placements in her first year, including a head of natural gas analytics position at a large integrated company. She spends much of her time conducting market research, tracking personnel moves, and engaging senior executives in extended conversations to identify opportunities. Maisie attributes her professional success to her inherent drive and competitive nature, always maintaining a long-term perspective, and she credits the advice to never say never for helping her embrace unexpected paths in a male-dominated industry.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say my drive and being competitive, right? But I would say overall, just the drive that I have to be successful, I'm kind of always thinking long-term and what that looks like.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I would say never say never. Understanding that coming out of college I never would have expected to be in the energy space. Always having a positive mindset around opportunities and never saying never, and putting in your best foot forward to at least try when it's something you think you would never do.
