Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my adaptability and work ethic. I value efficiency, and that's usually one of the first things that I bring to any job that I'm at - completing tasks efficiently. And then with the efficiency, I'm able to adapt and kind of build new, more complex structures and programs for the companies that I'm at. Having that combination of working efficiently and being able to adapt allows me to continuously grow and create more value in my roles.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is really to just pivot. Anytime you hear no, or you receive feedback, just go ahead and take that in and pivot. Don't take it personally, because it's not about you as a person, it's about the work. I feel like that's probably the greatest and most useful thing that I still reference back to all the time when I make content or automations and things for customers that get reviewed and QA'd by other people. The feedback is not a reflection of you, it's a reflection of the work, and we're all here to try and release the best experience for the customers.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I think I would give the advice of being confident in themselves. You've gone to school for this, you've likely done capstones or internships, but even if you haven't, just believe that what you've learned and the skills that you have in your tool set, in your toolbox are enough, that you are good enough, and that you can do more than you believe you can. It's about having that confidence in your abilities and trusting that you have what it takes to succeed in this field.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say the biggest challenges are, oddly enough, our tech stacks. When I talk to other people in my field in the same position, we all have these big ideas of things we want to do and how we want to manipulate data to glean new insights and create new products and services for customers. But there's just a little bit of a roadblock of tech not quite being at the forefront to work the way the human mind does. We have the vision and the ideas, but the technology hasn't quite caught up to enable us to execute everything we envision.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My work and personal life values that are most important to me are, again, adaptability, and having space and freedom to roam and uncover different things. Discovery is very important in being able to discover new things, both in work and in my personal life. And then I also value self-care a lot, because without self-care, burnout would definitely be a problem. These three values - adaptability, the freedom to discover, and self-care - really guide how I approach both my professional and personal life.
