About Maja
Maja Uckar is the founder and lead matchmaker of Internized, a boutique matchmaking company in New York City. She has nine years of experience in the matchmaking industry and founded her company in January 2025. Prior to that, she worked for one of the largest matchmaking companies in the United States after spending two years in the beauty and skincare industry at Chanel. Uckar started her own firm after feeling she was no longer growing in her previous role. The company operates with a hands-on approach, providing in-person introductions for up to 10 business professional clients at a time who have connections to the East or West Coast. In March 2026, she expanded by opening an international office, Internized Croatia, allowing the firm to serve clients in both Europe and the United States. Uckar considers opening her own company and achieving international expansion within a year to be a notable professional achievement, along with the personal successes of her clients.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
This is a beautiful industry to be a part of, a great space to work and grow, and it's very rewarding, especially when you have success story with your clients, because we will literally change somebody's life. You brought their partner in their lives. But also that this is an industry that can be very consuming emotionally, it's very time-consuming, and I would advise them definitely to try and work for some other matchmaking company before deciding to open something on their own.
