About Makaylen
Makaylen Hensley is an Area Manager at Amazon, where she specializes in supply chain operations, process optimization, and data-driven decision-making. She began her Amazon career as an Area Manager Intern, developing solutions to improve Time Off Task metrics and operational efficiency. Her experience has prepared her to manage fast-paced logistics operations, support associates, and solve complex challenges in real time.
Makaylen earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing with a concentration in Professional Sales and a minor in Leadership Studies from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. During her college years, she developed her leadership and communication skills through organizations, volunteer work, and professional development opportunities. She also earned certifications in sales and HubSpot Sales Hub and gained valuable customer-service experience through roles in the hospitality industry.
Beyond her professional career, Makaylen is passionate about leadership, photography, volleyball, and community service. She has volunteered with Young Life, coached youth volleyball, and regularly supports a local dog shelter. Her ambition, resilience, and commitment to personal growth continue to shape her career, with long-term aspirations of launching a photography business, pursuing further education, and eventually building a career with Disney.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my childhood experiences. Overcoming a difficult upbringing and seeing how far I’ve come motivates me every day and inspires me to be a role model for others.

My advice to young women entering the industry is to stay true to who you are. Being confident in your identity, age, and perspective can help you navigate challenges and succeed in environments where you may feel different.
