About Makenzi
Makenzi Enos serves as STEM Senior Program Analyst at Griffiss Institute, managing several Department of Defense contracts for the Air Force with a focus on STEM programming that reaches students from grades 3 through 12 locally in Rome, New York, and supports interns at bases nationwide. She progressed into this role after working as a special education teacher, where she sought broader impact beyond her classroom of seven students. Enos holds a bachelor's degree in marketing and communications from a SUNY school in the New York system and a master's degree in special education from Purdue University. She earned her PMP certification in June while overseeing 100 interns starting their roles. Previously, she worked as a photojournalist for a local newspaper and as a substitute teacher. Enos was recently selected as a nominee for the 40 Under 40 Awards in Central New York.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Having 100% trust in employees' capabilities and allowing them to own their work without micromanaging, learned from mentor Todd Humiston who modeled empowering leadership and lifelong learning.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do not be afraid to ask questions when stepping into a new role. Leaning on people already in the organization for core knowledge is a huge help.
