Ten minutes with Malery

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of resilience, discipline, and the ability to build genuine relationships. I lead with authenticity, stay curious, and never stop learning - especially in fast-moving industries like technology and financial services.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to always be open to feedback. Being open to feedback has helped me grow faster, build stronger relationships, and become a better leader. Instead of taking feedback personally, I’ve learned to view it as a tool for growth - one that helps refine my skills, sharpen my perspective, and push me outside of my comfort zone. Staying coachable has been one of the most important factors in my success.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Have confidence in yourself even before you feel ready. You don’t need to know everything to belong in the room. Speak up, trust your instincts, and don’t underestimate the value you bring. Confidence grows with action, not perfection. The more you advocate for yourself and take up space, the faster you’ll realize you were always capable.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the IT workforce space is balancing speed with quality. Organizations need highly skilled talent quickly, especially in regulated industries like banking, financial services, and insurance, while also navigating evolving technology, compliance requirements, and market uncertainty. Building trust, delivering the right talent, and maintaining long-term partnerships in a fast-moving environment is both the challenge and the opportunity.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, integrity, and a strong work ethic are the values that guide everything I do. I believe in being transparent, keeping my word, and working hard for what I want. Those values have helped me build trust, stay grounded, and remain proud of both the work I do and the person I am, inside and outside of my career.
