Her Story

About Mallory

My journey into social media management has been anything but traditional. I have my bachelor's degree in music education and spent years teaching voice lessons in opera, music, and theater, as well as managing classrooms. While my background might seem unrelated to marketing, education really lends its hand to this field because it's all about connecting and growing with people. Whether I was teaching in a classroom or giving one-on-one voice lessons, I learned how to build relationships, and that skill has been invaluable in my current work. Throughout my life, I've also worked in administrative and business roles, so connecting and networking with people in person was always a big highlight for me. Transferring that over to social media was an easy transition. I started doing social media work on the side for friends and family about 10 years ago, but when I had my fifth baby and inflation was going up, I realized it was time to make this official. In August 2022, I officially launched my business, and it's grown exponentially since then. I started with $3,000 in revenue from August to December that year, and this year I'm on track to exceed $200,000. I get to do what I enjoy, support my family, and still be home with my seven kids, whom I homeschool. Business is good, life is good, and I'm so thankful for how far we've come.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I always attribute my success to my hardships. Our shifts in life are just potential for growth. When I was [AGE], I had major spinal surgery where they weren't sure if I was ever going to be able to walk again. They had to go in and realign my spine and my rib cage so it wasn't crushing my heart. That experience really shaped the person I became. I remember my grandma saying to me when I asked 'why me?' She said, 'because of you. You are the strongest person I know, you'll be able to get through this, and it'll make you who you are.' And I 100% agree with that. It truly shaped the trajectory of my future. Later in life, I had another downfall that really shaped me as well. What it comes down to is that hardships have equated to opportunities of growth that have shaped the person I've become.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Professionally, integrity is huge. You need to make sure that you say what you're gonna do, do what you're gonna say. I also think it's really important to be adaptable. Things are always changing, not only in life, but in social media and all the other things. You have to be able to adapt, pivot, change, create, and just be able to make sure that you're doing what needs to be done to achieve your goals in life. And collaboration is key. I think when a win-win can happen, that's the best solution. I don't want to be fighting over something with someone else fighting for this and that. No, let's come to a conclusion where we both are successful. That's the goal. I want interconnectedness so that we can collaborate and have each person win.
