Her Story

About Mamie

I've been in consulting for 12 years, which has been an eye-opening journey that allows me to walk in my purpose while developing personally. I previously worked in HR and as a marketing director before transitioning to consulting. My business was originally called Integra Machine Lifestyle and Consulting, but we rebranded to Flourish Lifestyle and Consulting. I get to merge my HR background and my marketing and branding background to really focus on the people - I love the people and helping them flourish in life and be themselves, maximizing themselves without leaving themselves on the table. We take a holistic approach to leadership development, branding, and people work, changing the culture of companies through conflict management and strategy. It all comes back down to really developing the whole person and developing the people inside the organization to flourish. I work with award-winning authors and consultants, helping them pivot and align their programs with where they're going. One of my most notable achievements was working with an award-winning author, taking her $50 monthly program and turning it into an annual Arts Festival that was recognized here in Columbus, Ohio, and now she goes on tour, making more impact while changing her ROI.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Mamie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say my resilience, but also my children. I have a very creative household, and watching them be who they are, they inspire me. But also just understanding my resilience in life has pushed me beyond any struggle that I have ever been through. They have pushed me to say, even when things are hard, 'Okay, this is just me walking out my testimony.' And I say this to myself often - that's me walking out my testimony. And that has pushed me. That has gave me a greater push.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice that I ever received is that a lot of times we look at failure as this major downfall thing, but looking at it as it all works together for our good. So, even failure pushes us to our success, and it has taught me to not stay down often. Go ahead and process what you need to process, but get back up faster than you can. Take the lessons and run with it.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

One thing that I would really give them is to really get clear on you, because everything else flows from you. Your mindset, your wealth, your relationships, they all flow from you. So if you get really clear on who you are, your identity, and what you stand for, your strengths, and even those little weaknesses - they work for our good too, right? So really understanding who you are, and taking that, and maximizing that, and showing up fully in that, I would say that would be my biggest advice.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say some of the opportunities, just as a minority woman, is really finding opportunities, right? Getting yourself out into those spaces, and what spaces is for me? How to build a network. Sometimes that can be complicating. But I recognize stepping outside the box and connecting with others is really what helps with that.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is number one for me. Having integrity in all things that I do, and with integrity that is also authenticity - showing up authentically in my business so that those that I am called to serve, I'll be able to serve. I would also say excellence. I'm a recovering perfectionist, so I have learned that everything doesn't have to be perfect, but if I operate in my best self, that I'm operating in excellence, and the people who receive from me, they get to experience that excellence through me. So it's no longer the pressure of being perfect and getting stuck in perfect.
