What do you attribute your success to?
I credit my success to a combination of curiosity, adaptability, and a genuine passion for learning. My path has taken me through IT support, education, and instructional design—fields that all revolve around solving problems and helping people. Along the way, living in different regions has broadened my understanding of people and purpose, reinforcing my belief that growth comes from staying open to new experiences and perspectives.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I don't recall anyone giving me a single piece of "life-changing" advice, but I do remember two of my high school teachers telling me, when I was considering teaching, that no one becomes a teacher to get rich. That simple truth has stayed with me. It reminded me that fulfillment comes from purpose, not paychecks. And, helping others reach their goals is one of the most rewarding ways to measure success.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don’t box yourself in by thinking your path has to look like anyone else's. The best thing you can do is stay curious and build a diverse foundation of skills. Every experience—whether technical, creative, or interpersonal—adds to your toolkit. And don’t underestimate the power of communication and empathy; understanding how people learn, work, and collaborate is just as important as mastering the technology behind it.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Technology and learning are evolving faster than ever, which is both exciting and daunting. The challenge lies in balancing innovation with real human connection; ensuring that tools like AI and automation enhance the learning experience rather than replace the empathy and creativity behind it. For those willing to adapt and experiment, there's a huge opportunity to design experiences that make learning more accessible, personalized, and meaningful.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, curiosity, and community. I believe in doing what's right even when it's not easy, staying curious enough to always keep learning, and building communities that uplift others. Whether I'm designing content, teaching a class, or collaborating on a creative project, I try to lead with empathy and a sense of purpose. Because how we show up matters just as much as what we accomplish.
