Marcela Chamorro is a sustainability professional and circular economy advocate based in Miami, Florida, currently serving as a Program Coordinator at Replenysh. With a background rooted in digital marketing and creative direction, she brings over five years of experience in both B2B and B2C marketing, complemented by more than four years of hands-on leadership in recycling programs and environmental education. Her work focuses on building scalable circularity solutions, helping organizations reduce waste, improve material recovery, and meet their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.

Chamorro began her career in the marketing and advertising industry, where she developed campaigns and branding strategies as a creative professional. However, driven by a deep passion for environmental conservation, she made a pivotal shift into the sustainability sector. She joined a recycling company where she quickly expanded her role beyond marketing, taking on responsibilities in program management, education, customer success, and operations. Her efforts contributed to the successful launch of public recycling initiatives in South Florida, the collection of significant volumes of recyclable materials, and the development of educational tools designed to influence consumer behavior.

In her current role at Replenysh, Chamorro collaborates with major consumer brands and recycling partners across the United States to implement and scale circular economy programs. She manages complex logistics, tracks data for material diversion, and ensures seamless execution of initiatives such as large-scale recycling activations. Recognized as a “40 Under 40” honoree by Waste360, she is regarded as a rising leader shaping the future of the waste and recycling industry. Her work is driven by a commitment to creating measurable environmental impact and fostering sustainable systems that benefit both businesses and communities.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to maintaining a clear sense of purpose and focus. I constantly ask myself, “Why am I doing this?”—and I center my work around who I’m helping and why it matters. In the sustainability field, there is so much to be done, and the people dedicated to this work give it their all. Whenever I face challenges or feel overwhelmed, I remind myself of the impact I can make and the resources I have to support meaningful change. Keeping my goals and my “why” at the forefront of my mind is what motivates me every single day.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received comes from my current boss and founder of Replenish, Mark Arman, who says, “We come to fix problems.” I take that to heart every day by approaching challenges with curiosity and a solutions-oriented mindset. I’ve learned not to shy away from difficult issues or assume they’re someone else’s responsibility. I’m hands-on by nature, and even when I’m not explicitly asked for help, I look for ways to contribute ideas and solutions. Staying open, collaborative, and willing to do the work has been central to my success.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to find work that aligns with your values and your heart. Whether that alignment is direct—like working in a field you’re passionate about—or indirect, where your work supports a community or mission you care deeply for, staying true to your values makes all the difference. When your work resonates with your morals, it doesn’t necessarily make it easier, but it makes it infinitely more meaningful. You wake up each day knowing what you do matters and that you love what you’re doing. Staying aligned with your personal goals and values will inspire you, keep you motivated, and ultimately make your career journey more fulfilling.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say that changing consumer behavior is both the biggest challenge and the greatest opportunity in my field. As a society, we consume in ways we often don’t fully consider—shaped by upbringing, culture, and external influences. In sustainability, much of the work involves shifting systems and mindsets that have long been ingrained. While this is a significant challenge, it’s also an incredible opportunity. When someone understands a new approach—whether a manager influencing their team or an individual making different choices—the impact ripples outward. Educating and empowering people to think and act differently not only drives change but also creates a multiplying effect that can transform communities and industries.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are openness, positivity, and a solutions-oriented mindset. I strive to stay open to challenges, willing to do the work, and never shy away from responsibility. As my boss and founder of Replenish, Mark Arman, often says, “We come to fix problems,” and I take that to heart by exploring issues thoroughly and offering solutions—even when I’m not explicitly asked for help. Positivity is another core value for me. I approach obstacles with optimism and curiosity, always asking why and looking for ways to find common ground or inspire change. My team often comes to me for motivation, and I aim to bring energy, encouragement, and a “yes-first” attitude to everything I do, even when it means taking on more than I initially planned.
