About Margaret
Margaret Davenport serves as Marketing Project Manager at Unico Group, an insurance brokerage firm. In this role, she manages intake for marketing requests from a team of over 45 sales professionals, oversees traditional marketing efforts including social media ads, posts, and blogs, researches new software tools, coordinates photo shoots, and helps organize both internal and external events such as the company's national executive summit. Prior to joining Unico Group nearly two years ago, she worked as a copywriter at Swanson Russell, Nebraska's largest ad agency focused on outdoor and agricultural brands, and as a marketing specialist at Berry Law Firm. Her educational path includes one year of nursing school where she earned her CNA certification, followed by a journalism and geography degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is also a certified workflow specialist through Asana and participates in industry groups including the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers (CIAB) and InterSure.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Keep trying and failing, and try to get your foot in the door as many places or organizations as you can. If you're new to an organization and you think you can help with an initiative or a project that even might not be something you're owning, just bring it up with your manager or your boss, and help about it. Put your neck out, advocate for yourself, and make sure you're just always asking questions, you're always curious, and you're not afraid of failing, because everything you do is success. Even if you're failing, you are advancing in some way.
