Her Interview

Ten minutes with Margaret

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the values instilled in me growing up, my willingness to take on more responsibilities and learn new things, as well as volunteering and mentoring others to help them succeed in their chosen areas.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Be open to change, be open to criticism, and ask for help if needed when you've made your career decision.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't ever feel small. When you're in the room, present yourself as you are. Women in many industries still feel they need to prove themselves, but you shouldn't have to, just be yourself.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Respect for the position of an administrator is still not where it should be. Administrators and project people often feel they have to prove themselves, but the way to do that is to be professional and prepared.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty and integrity are most important. In a client-focused industry, make sure you learn as much as you can about what we're doing to help clients. Also important to work with younger people in training programs to help them be successful and open to learning.
