About Margaret

Dr. Margaret (Peggy) Herrman is an entrepreneur, fine jewelry designer, educator, and conflict resolution expert whose career spans more than five decades. She earned her Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Psychology from Emory University and spent nearly three decades as a professor at the University of Georgia. Throughout her professional journey, Peggy developed extensive expertise in mediation, negotiation, communication, and peacemaking. She established some of Georgia’s earliest juvenile court mediation programs, trained hundreds of mediators, and founded and directed the National Conference on Peacemaking and Conflict Resolution for 12 years. Her work has focused on helping individuals and communities navigate complex disagreements, understand different perspectives, and ensure that people, particularly children, have opportunities to express their voices.

Today, Peggy serves as CEO and Creative Director of Peggy Herrman Fine Jewelry, where she combines her lifelong passion for design with a commitment to sustainability, craftsmanship, and meaningful self-expression. Drawing inspiration from her background in couture sewing, natural beauty, and fine fabrics, she creates distinctive necklaces, bracelets, and earrings featuring carefully selected gemstones and precious materials. Her designs reflect a philosophy of timeless elegance, thoughtful production, and environmental responsibility. Through her business, Peggy also seeks to support the local creative community and build meaningful relationships with customers, creating jewelry that celebrates personal stories, cherished memories, and individual identity.

In addition to her jewelry business, Peggy is developing Claim Your Power, a communication and negotiation training program designed to help women find their voices, recognize power dynamics, and confidently express their ideas. Drawing on more than 50 years of experience in conflict resolution and lessons from her longtime mentor, she shares practical strategies for navigating difficult conversations, strengthening communication, and fostering understanding. Peggy’s work is guided by her belief in empowering others, supporting women, and approaching challenges with empathy, curiosity, and thoughtful problem-solving. Through her continued work in entrepreneurship, education, and professional development, she remains dedicated to helping people recognize their potential, communicate with confidence, and create meaningful connections.
