About Margaret

Margaret Nyswonger is a technology strategist, entrepreneur, and business transformation leader with about 30 years of experience in the government defense field. She founded Stealth Network Communications as an IT services company after being influenced by a customer from the National Laboratories. She later spun off part of the business into a tech development company utilizing sensor-based solutions, resulting in the Stealth Matrix product that holds two patents and three trademarks. Her main area of expertise is using location services and patented artificial intelligence technology with sensor-based systems to identify and map products and goods. Nyswonger earned three teaching credentials from the University of Chico State in California and describes much of her knowledge as self-taught, having worked with early telecommunications firms following deregulation. She has supported major customers including the Department of Energy, Department of Defense, Sandia National Laboratories, Bloomingdale's, and CalPERS.

Ten minutes with Margaret

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have a very supportive family. And I actually have 5 brothers. So, I have learned a long time how to collaborate very different worlds and environments. And having passion for what I do.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never give up. If you believe it is the right thing to do, or you feel that you can make a difference and an impact, then try it. You have to put some guide rails in place to ensure that it does not impact you emotionally and financially.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be afraid to ask the hard questions. And don't be afraid to ask for the order. Because as females, we're not near as aggressive, and you become classified sometimes, but there are ways to ask for the order that does not put you in this pushy classification.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Advancement of AI has really helped. Technology drastically changed around 2016. The evolution of these technologies and the more powerful they become leads to greater opportunities. The opportunity is to move off legacy platforms.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Staying true to yourself. Being honest and motivating with your team. Share that in a collaborative manner, not a demanding manner. It's all about the team, and without the team, you're not successful.
