Maria Victoria Escalante is the Founder and Managing Director of FloraVital Innovations, a company focused on advancing regenerative agriculture and biological soil solutions across the United States.

Based in Oregon, she leads the development of science-backed, soil-focused systems designed to improve crop performance, strengthen soil health, and support growers navigating an increasingly regulated agricultural environment.

With nearly a decade of experience across international and U.S. markets, Maria Victoria’s work is rooted in bridging traditional agricultural knowledge from Costa Rica with modern biological innovation. Through FloraVital, she is bringing proprietary organic solutions directly to growers, positioning the company as a trusted partner in the transition toward more sustainable and compliant farming practices.

In parallel with her work at FloraVital, she serves as an advisor to Calle Real Products, contributing to cross-border strategy and operations built on over 30 years of agricultural development. Her leadership spans business development, operations, and strategic growth, with a strong focus on building relationship-driven networks within Oregon’s agricultural community.

As regulatory pressures increase and the demand for sustainable solutions continues to grow, Maria Victoria is focused on scaling FloraVital nationally, using Oregon as a strategic foundation for certification, market entry, and long-term industry positioning.

She holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Management and International Business from Universidad de Sevilla and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami, combining global perspective with disciplined execution in building resilient, future-focused agricultural systems.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to clarity, consistency, and the ability to execute without waiting for perfect conditions.

Building FloraVital has required making decisions quickly, building the right relationships, and staying focused even when things are uncertain.

A big part of that has been surrounding myself with people who believe in long-term value — not just short-term results. Working with partners who understand the importance of building something meaningful has been fundamental.

At the end of the day, success comes from showing up every day with direction, adapting when needed, and staying committed to the bigger vision.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received came from my father: don’t react in the moment — build structure, and the direction will reveal itself.

As I began managing multiple teams and responsibilities, that advice became fundamental. Instead of making impulsive decisions, I learned to step back, observe, and trust the process.

Over time, I’ve realized that discipline, patience, and clarity in how you build something are what allow you to identify opportunities, close gaps, and move forward with confidence.

It’s a simple principle, but it has shaped how I make decisions and lead every day.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be prepared to do what’s necessary, not what’s easy.

Stay consistent, keep learning, and don’t limit your vision. The work is demanding, but there is space for women who are serious about building something real.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in agriculture right now is the gap between technical knowledge and commercial execution.

Finding professionals who understand both the science behind agriculture and the discipline of building strong sales relationships is not easy — and that creates friction when scaling a company in this space.

At the same time, that challenge represents one of the biggest opportunities. As the industry evolves — driven by regulation, sustainability demands, and shifting market expectations — there is a growing need for solutions that are not only effective, but also properly positioned and delivered to the right growers.

From my perspective, every interaction in this process is an opportunity — whether a deal closes or not. The key is understanding why, adapting quickly, and continuously refining how you build relationships and bring value to the market.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

For me, everything comes down to trust and integrity.

I value working with people who are transparent, accountable, and willing to have honest conversations — even when things are not perfect.

In both business and personal life, I believe credibility is built through consistency: doing what you say, standing behind your decisions, and addressing challenges directly instead of avoiding them.

Those values shape how I build relationships, lead my team, and grow the company.
