Maria Galiano

Maria Galiano dedicated 36 years to Applied Materials, a semiconductor equipment manufacturing company. She began her career as an engineer and process engineering manager, working seven years in California before transferring to the New York office to be closer to family. There she became a process support engineer supporting the IBM customer site and advanced to a senior member of technical staff, acting as a liaison between scientific research in California and the IBM customer. Later she took charge of a large database system tracking customer applications across areas. Galiano earned her master's degree from UC Berkeley in Materials Science and Engineering after earning her BS in the same field at MIT. She was actively involved with the organization Women in Semiconductors. She attributes her success to being a people person who enjoys interacting with others and to being hard working and efficient.
