Her Story
About Maria
I have been an entrepreneur since 2012, inspired by the CEO at Danbury Aerospace who really motivated and pushed me to follow what I love. I learned everything at my previous company - the procurement, the quality inspection, the legal aspects - and I applied it with my own businesses. I'm now looking to possibly create another DBA for remote administration, services to help other small businesses with their back-end operations. The thought of transitioning from self-employment to employment is also an option as I plan to focus on education.

Ten minutes with Maria
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received came from the CEO at Danbury Aerospace, may he rest in peace. When we would get together for different meetings, he just inspired me and really motivated and pushed me to do what I love. He said, when it's something you love, you don't have to work a day in your life. That's exactly how he built his company.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Stay consistent and continue learning. In 2022, I gained 22 certifications, and this year my goal is to get 26 or enroll back to school to finish a degree I intended to start years ago. You have to invest in yourself and always focus on continuously learning. It's about having that inquisitive mindset to always be learning and evolving.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The challenges right now are the state of the economy in the United States right now. I've been through COVID and survived that, and I am more than positive that I'll survive this. I have seen a decline in appointments, but I believe things will slowly recover from this administration.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Living each day to the fullest and taking advantage of every single minute in time. That's something that I value with personal and in business. Either I do it for myself, or I do it for someone else - right now, I'm in control of my schedule. If I want to go hiking throughout the week, I do that. I love what I do, I love the art, and I still love to help people. That's always been my goal.
