Her Interview

Ten minutes with Maria

01What do you attribute your success to?

My connection with God first, then being the superwoman at home as head of my household and making sure my family is okay. I value family highly and strive to be a better person by valuing what I have at home.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

In my early 20s, a young supervisor pushed me out of my comfort zone and showed me that I can do more than I thought, and it's not too late to learn and grow.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

There's no little job and no mentality of 'that's not my role'. The more you learn, the more you can grow and upskill yourself. The more you grow, the more knowledge you gain, and all those skills will pay off one day.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges include being Latin in environments where others have higher degrees and proving my skills despite that. Opportunities include lots of room for growth as an effective housekeeper when landing with the right family and people.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In work: respect for employees, morale, and communication as key to a great non-toxic environment. In personal life: family values with God first and family second, which makes you a better person.
