About Maria
Maria Qureshi is the CEO and President of Splinark LLC, a company specializing in manufacturing and 3D printing using FDM technology in plastics. With 3-4 years of experience in the field, she transitioned from a career in healthcare administration, where she earned a bachelor's degree and served as a practice manager in a podiatry practice in Chicago. Qureshi started her entrepreneurial journey by founding Calvite before leading Splinark, which is expanding through the acquisition of a machine shop and serves as a prime contractor for the government as a CAIC code holder. She manages daily operations including order processing, quality control, employee oversight, and government contracting pursuits. Qureshi attributes her success to strong family support and emphasizes values of honesty and integrity when hiring. She sees significant opportunities in U.S. manufacturing due to tariffs reducing reliance on overseas suppliers, though she notes challenges in recruiting trained machinists and CNC technicians. Her advice to young women is to embrace business challenges, noting that women often excel in entrepreneurship.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Maria
01What do you attribute your success to?
The support from my family has been crucial. They support me a lot, and with their support I have come to this place where I am at right now. Women need a village.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Never give up. This is what I received from my mentors.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Take up on the challenge, and every woman should try to do business. I think women are way better in business than men are, and the women have a better opportunity to be successful in business.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There is a huge opportunity in manufacturing because of tariffs, as people are reluctant to order from China. There's a huge gap in manufacturing in the USA. The challenge is finding trained employees like machinists and CNC technicians.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty and integrity are the values that are very close to me. I hire people that are honest and hardworking.
