About Maria
Maria del Pilar Rubio is the Owner, Founder, and International Tax and Private Client Attorney at Rubio International Law PLLC, a Miami-based law firm providing sophisticated legal counsel in international taxation, tax planning, estate planning, and complex tax matters affecting individuals, families, and businesses with international interests. Her practice includes advising high-net-worth clients on pre-immigration tax planning, gift and estate tax planning, trust matters, tax compliance, and cross-border financial considerations.
Before founding Rubio International Law PLLC in 2021, Rubio served as a Tax Attorney with Shutts & Bowen LLP and Marcell Felipe Attorneys, where she developed extensive experience advising clients on sophisticated tax matters. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, cum laude, from Florida International University and a Juris Doctor and LL.M. in Taxation, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she is actively involved with professional organizations, including STEP Miami and the Colombian American Chamber of Commerce Miami.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to perseverance, continuous growth, and a commitment to making a meaningful difference every day. I believe in continuing to move forward, even when faced with challenges, and never giving up on the goals and values that matter most to me. I remain eager to learn, embrace new opportunities for growth, and prioritize continuing education to expand my knowledge and strengthen my ability to make a positive impact.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to be inspired, discover and pursue my passion, and never allow obstacles to stand in the way of my dreams. I have learned the importance of staying true to myself, embracing my individuality, and remaining authentic in every aspect of my career. Being uniquely myself has given me the confidence to pursue opportunities with purpose and continue moving forward.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to stay true to themselves and take pride in everything they do. It is important to recognize and celebrate how far they have come, while continuing to grow, learn, and pursue their goals with confidence. Never underestimate the value of your unique perspective, experiences, and accomplishments.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest opportunities in my field lie in leveraging my strongest skills in immigration law, economic empowerment, and social services to support more individuals and families as they navigate some of the most challenging times in their lives. I am committed to using my knowledge and experience to help people overcome barriers, access essential resources, achieve greater economic stability, and build a stronger foundation for their future.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are encouragement, support, positivity, discipline, and a strong work ethic. I believe in lifting others up, bringing a positive attitude to every team, and leading by example. By remaining disciplined, committed, and dedicated to my responsibilities, I strive to inspire those around me and contribute to a supportive and productive environment.
